Fish Hook Extractor

$4.95

Every fisherman has caught undersized, the wrong species, or a fish out of season needing a fishing hook extractor. This tool uses a high-strength anodized space aluminum handle and stainless-steel needle body, which will not rust. Besides, the strong magnetic absorption at the handle bottom of the hook remover makes it easy to absorb the fishhook. The best-case scenario is to remove the hook if possible and this tool will assist. Whether you’re doing catch and release or fishing for food, we recommend having an extractor in your tackle box.

The fish hook extractor is the perfect tool for removing deeply sunk or swallowed hooks. Hooks can be safely removed all while putting less harm on the fish. The hook cylinder rotates the hook 200 degrees. This reverses the direction of the hook and barb allowing it to be dislodged from the stomach. It can then be removed from the fish without the barb re-engaging the fish’s tissue.

Usage:

The fish hook extractor is the perfect tool for removing deeply sunk or swallowed hooks. Hooks can be safely removed all while putting less harm on the fish. The hook cylinder rotates the hook 200 degrees. This reverses the direction of the hook and barb allowing it to be dislodged from the stomach. It can then be removed from the fish without the barb re-engaging the fish’s tissue.

Most hooks that are lost or left in the fish’s mouth dissolve naturally. The decomposition time varies depending on the material and conditions. You can expect anywhere from a few months to several years depending on the material. Although there are now manufacturers who make hooks that promote decomposition. If a fish swallows a hook or cannot shake it, it is not always the end of its life! Many fish have strong stomachs and can survive swallowing sharp or inedible things. It’s preferable to remove hooks when you can catch the fish, but they’re not necessarily doomed if they get stuck.

It is also important to remember that a fish’s nervous system is not the same as ours. When hooked, the sharp barb often gets stuck in the stiff, insensitive material of their mouth or upper lip. Fish will struggle against the pressure to reel in, but the hook itself doesn’t seem to cause much pain. This tool works for fresh or saltwater fish.
