Basting Tools

Basting is a cooking technique that involves cooking meat with either its own juices or some type of preparation. Those preparations include sauce or marinade using basting tools. The meat is left to cook, then periodically coated with the juice. Basting is prominently used in grilling, rotisserie, roasting, and other meat preparations. In those cases, the meat is over heat for extended periods of time. Basting is used to keep meat moist during the cooking process and also to apply or enhance flavor.

You can baste with a spoon, ladle, brush or a special device called a bulb baster, aka turkey baster. For basting poultry being roasted, a turkey baster is the most efficient tool to use by far, and can be purchased inexpensively. Basting is also done while barbequing and grilling.

Basting tools are available in many shapes, sizes, compositions, and serve many purposes. While a spoon is always a handy option when it comes to basting, seeing that every kitchen should have one, tools like basting brushes and bulbs can help you get the job done a bit more efficiently.

Silicone basting brushes are flexible and super easy to use. They have high heat resistance and can perfectly spread out thick sauces over a large surface area. They are also easier to clean, unlike natural bristle basting brushes. Teflon basting brushes have somewhat delicate bristles, like boar hair.

Whatever tool you decide to use, we have them in our store, or will get them for you.
