Description
This soft crab lure is a fishing lure that imitates a soft crab. Casting crab soft bait lures can be used to catch fish in freshwater and saltwater. Soft plastics are best for shallow-water fish, such as Crappie, panfish, and catfish. Softbaits tend to be most successful when fished in shallower inshore water, and in winter this means venturing even shallower than normal. Focus on structure and areas where predators might be cruising around looking for crabs, shellfish or smaller fish. The bait is soft and provides a life like swimming action triggering aggressive strikes.
A leader around three feet should be long enough to take any punishment dished out by fish and the terrain. The length distances it sufficiently from the highly visible mainline, but not so long as to hold the soft-bait up in the water column. Remember, this bait is going to thrash around in rough water so the recommended length is short enough to set the hook.

Using Casting Crab Soft Bait
Once a drift is established, cast out forward a good distance. Engage the reel as soon as the bait hits the water, allowing it to sink naturally. Gently take up the slack if this develops too quickly to maintain direct contact with the lure. Fish will often take the bait as it drifts down so be ready to strike. I’ve used this bait surf fishing, pier fishing, and casting off the rocks.
The Rapala loop knot is used to tie a lead-head on, the resulting open loop allowing lures to retain maximum movement — and it’s very strong, too. You form a reasonably small overhand loop in the trace. Lastly, thread the tag-end through the lead-head’s eyelet.
