If not, having these panfish style crank baits sin your tackle box works as well. These baits are lifelike and durable, and ready to be fished. A crankbait is really fished with the reel.

Crankbaits are a critical way to catch fish especially predator fish like musky, pike, walleye and bass. Whether you are fishing a river, a natural lake or a reservoir, crankbaits should always have a place in your tackle box. Crankbaits are much rounder and have a steady side to side wiggle and wobble. A high-speed reel is highly recommended when burning a crankbait. Most reels today come with 5.3 to 1 ratios and are sufficient for this method. However a 6 to 1 ratio is better on your arm. Whether bass are in transition to shallow water, amid the spawn, or hanging around cover to feed, throwing the best crankbaits for spring bass fishing will keep your line tight. As the water temps bottom out, try weighting your wintertime crankbaits to maximize their effectiveness. A little extra weight will kelp you throw them farther, get them deeper and keep them there longer. From cold water species such as trout and salmon, to warm water fish like bass, pike, walleye, perch and panfish, a properly selected crankbait can often be one of the most important lures in an angler’s tackle box.

Shallow diving crankbaits are ideal for fishing over the top of weed beds. Expect the pike to shoot out of cover and hit the lures from below as they waddle past. Most crankbaits naturally float or suspend, so it is not until you start the retrieve that the lip on the front digs in and makes the lure dive.
