Amacure Fisch Mackerel 4oz

$3.49

Anglers fish vertical jigs in the water column from the surface to the bottom. Movements of rod more or less fast and varied (jigging). An ounce or more for retrieving or vertical jigging in 20 feet or more of water. The Amacure Fisch Mackerel 4oz is perfect for saltwater where you can expect current and big, tough fish. Rigged with one dual assist hook, you can expect easy hook sets on the drop. The lime green assist hooks glow in the dark and fish are triggered by what stands out.

When jigging, you want to use the thinnest line diameter you can get away with, as this creates less drag through the water, greater sensitivity of the jig and rod working together, and ultimately results in a vertical line angle. My favorite line is anywhere from 15- to 40-pound braided line. For yo-yoing deeper fish like yellowtail; just drop your lure over the side straight down and let it drop fast until it hits the bottom. Then engage the reel and retrieve as fast as you can about half way to even all the way up then stop and let it drop to the bottom again and repeat, hence the name like a “yo-yo”.

As the name implies, the basic technique is to drop a heavy jig straight down to the bottom. Wind it quickly back to the surface and repeat the process. When learning how to jig, you can try either jigging straight up and down as you drift. You can cast the lure out and jig it back towards you horizontally while reeling. These jig fishing techniques create the look of an injured baitfish that a game fish would want to bite.

Slow-pitch jigging has gained a foothold in the fishing world because of its uniqueness and effectiveness in catching various predatory fish. Even species on the bottom that are accustomed to their food falling to them are fair game with this technique. The finish is lime green, blue, and has black spots. The reflective colors will drive foraging fish into a frenzy. Target fish will think they’re next meal will be a small mackerel.

Iron jigs are flat-out deadly and one of the few baits you can fish from early spring through late fall. In clear water as well as muddy, and in a foot of water just as easily as 100.
