Knife jigs have a long, skinny profile that vibrates and sinks rapidly.  For knife jigging, many anglers recommend braided line in the 30–40 pound test range especially in deep water. Braided line is strong, has little to no stretch, and is more sensitive than monofilament. This makes it easier to feel the jig’s movement and any bites Twitching knife jigs to target the bigger snapper under the workups.
