Description
Chefs make chipotle chili powder from chipotle peppers, which they smoke and dry as jalapeno peppers. It is perfect for adding smokiness and flavor to many dishes. Chipotle seasoning has a smoky, spicy flavor with earthiness from the chipotle peppers and cumin, along with savory notes from the garlic powder.
Chipotle chile powder is made up purely of dried and ground chipotle chiles (as opposed to standard Achili powder, which is a mix of ground chiles with several spices like oregano, garlic powder, and cumin). It has a moderate heat level with fruity undertones. Its smoky heat makes it great in grilling rubs, barbecue sauces, and chilis.
Description:
Chipotle chili powder and chili powder are very different. Chili powder tastes like a spice blend that happens to feature a heavy dose of ground chili pepper. It’s earthy, mildly spicy, and pungent. Chipotle powder is earthy, too, but the drying and smoking process creates a deep earthy smokiness to this spice.
Usage:
Ground chipotle is a truly exciting alternative to black pepper. So exciting, in fact, we think you’ll permit us to use the opportunity as a teaching moment: Mexico takes pepper seriously, and the big three get different names when they change state. Chipotles come from smoked jalapenos; pasillas (“little raisins”) come from dried chilacas; and anchos (“wide ones”) come from dried poblanos.
This simple chili uses chipotles peppers, chipotle chili powder, and hot smoked paprika to give you a chili full of smoky heat packs a punch but isn’t mouth-scorching. We’ve shared chili recipes in the past.
To maintain freshness, they ship this spice in glass bottles. That’s because glass jars can preserve the freshness of spices for up to 2 years. Glass is an awesome option for storing spices because it doesn’t react to ingredients, unlike plastics and wood. Glass doesn’t typically conduct heat and you can see what’s inside to keep track of inventory.
This spice is additive and preservative free !!!!
