Others use the \u201cdouble the depth\u201d rule i.e. if you&#8217;re fishing in 60m of water (with minimal current). You&#8217;d use a 120g jig (or similar). Since the boat will not be on anchor. the bait would then be caught in the drift exposed to more fish.<\/p>\n<p>In the Pacific ocean, we used 80lb Dacron on at least 9\/0 reels with large power handles. The rods were stiff, had rollers, and a rest that sits on the railing. We used to fish down to 1000 feet and caught really large fish.
